After Cleveland at the end of last year traded Josh Naylor, cleveland.com sports columnist Terry Pluto reported that, while “The Guardians aren’t saying anything” about Naylor’s conditioning, “it has to be a factor.” Pluto added that he’d heard “whispers that the Guardians were concerned about Naylor’s weight for quite a while.”
Yet, this season, playing for Arizona and then Seattle, Naylor batted .295, had 20 home runs and batted in in 92 runs. And he’s still playing in the postseason. What did the Guardians’ first basemen do collectively during this period?
