Sri Lanka bring in Prabodhani and ask Bangladesh to bowl

Toss Sri Lanka chose to bat vs Bangladesh

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first in what is a virtual knockout contest against Bangladesh in Navi Mumbai. With both sides on two points after five games, a win is paramount to keep their faint hopes of qualification to the semi-finals alive.

Chamari Athapaththu said the surface looked ripe for batting and she was keen to take first lease of it. Nigar Sultana looked at it as an opportunity for their bowlers to impress once more.

Both sides have made changes. Udeshika Prabodhani came in for Piumi Wathsala for Sri Lanka, while Bangladesh made two changes with Marufa Akter and Nahida Akter coming in for Fariha Trisna and Fahima Khatun.

Sri Lanka will be happy to not have brought the rain with them from Colombo with conditions extremely hot in Navi Mumbai.

Not the most comfortable out there for the players, with temperatures in the high 30s, but it should bode well for a complete game of cricket. The pitch itself has some green grass on it, but with red soil holding less moisture, it’s expected to dry out as the game goes on.
