BART equipment issue in Transbay Tube causes ‘major delay’
BART officials said Monday morning that an equipment issue in the Transbay Tube was causing a “major delay” for riders attempting to travel between San Francisco and the East Bay.
The transit agency said the problem occurred on the track near Embarcadero, but did not immediately provide additional information.
“We are currently single tracking through the Transbay Tube,” BART said on social media shortly before 6:30 a.m.
As of 6:30 a.m. there was also no service on BART’s Red or Green lines. A BART spokesperson said in an email that the two lines “were stopped to mitigate congestion as we single track through the Transbay Tube.”
The transit agency offered Red and Green line riders the following alternatives:
Red Line:
For Millbrae, take the shuttle train between San Francisco International Airport and Millbrae and transfer to/from the Yellow Line. Millbrae riders from Richmond can take the Orange/Berryessa train and transfer at MacArthur to the Yellow/SFO train.
San Francisco-bound riders can take an Orange/Richmond train and transfer to a Blue/Daly City train. East Bay bound riders can take a Blue/Dublin train and transfer to an Orange/Berryessa train.
This is a developing story. Check sfchronicle.com for updates.
