Earlier, while greeting Albanese on arrival at the White House, Trump was asked what his message was to the people of Australia.
Trump: We love them.
Reporter: What do you hope to accomplish with the prime minister?
Trump: A lot. A lot. Great things.

Trump: ”I expect we’ll probably work out a very fair deal with President Xi of China.”
“They will threaten us with rare earths. I don’t think they’re threatening us too much right now, but they could do that. But I threaten them with something I think is much more powerful, and it’s tariffs.”
“In about a year from now, we’ll have so much critical mineral and rare earths that you won’t know what to do with them”.

Trump: ”[The deal] was made a while ago, and nobody did anything about it … It was going too slowly. Now we’re starting, we have it all set.”
“We have the best submarines in the world, anywhere in the world, and we’re building a few more, currently under construction. And now we’re starting, we have it all set with Anthony. I think it’s really moving along very rapidly, very well.”
