Stunning new twist to West Ham move for Ivan Toney in last 24 hours claims top journalist

A top journalist has revealed there’s been a stunning new twist to West Ham’s pursuit of Ivan Toney in the last 24 hours.

Former Brentford striker Ivan Toney had long been linked with the Hammers before his mega money move to Saudi — but the latest development could completely change the direction of his future.

West Ham desperately need a new striker in January.

It took Nuno Espirito Santo all of one game to see that after Niclas Fullkrug’s woeful performance in a 1-1 draw at Everton.

The German kept his place at Arsenal but was even more anonymous.

Doubts were raised over West Ham move for Toney

West Ham’s new head coach made it clear he sees youngster Callum Marshall ahead of Callum Wilson in the pecking order by bringing the 20-year-old on for Fullkrug at the Emirates.

Nuno also made it clear to West Ham’s owners he expects a new forward to be signed in the January transfer window.

And West Ham have made it clear Nuno will be able to make signings to try and keep the club in the Premier League.

The Hammers have been linked with a fair number already from Joshua Zirkzee to Chris Wood and even Real Madrid’s Endrick.

One name back on the West Ham radar too in the last couple of weeks has been Toney.

Before his £600k-per week tax free move to Al-Alhi, West Ham were reportedly in the mix for Toney’s signature at one stage.

No club could compete with the staggering £600k per week Toney was offered in Saudi, tax free.

The Northampton-born star has scored 38 goals in 54 appearances in Saudi since the start of last season.

But playing in Saudi has seen Toney fall out of contention for Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

With a World Cup looming large at the end of the season, Toney is said to be desperate to make the plane to America.

It has been claimed that Tuchel has told Toney a return to the Premier League would boost his chances of selection.

The likes of talkSPORT and teamTALK have claimed West Ham have added Toney to their list of striker targets for a January move, most likely a loan for the remainder of the season.

Now there has been a stunning new twist to West Ham’s move for Toney in last 24 hours, claims a top journalist.

Hammers News exclusively revealed that talk of Toney joining West Ham was something of a red herring.

Chiefly because the 29-year-old is happy in Saudi and with the lifestyle and would face tax complications and implications if he returned to the UK in January.

But there has now been a hugely encouraging update from a leading journalist.

West Ham ‘already working’ on tax solution for Toney deal

In an exclusive on his Patreon site, Alan Nixon has revealed not only are West Ham interested in Toney – they are already ‘working on the deal’.

The Hammers are already looking at the best way to financially structure a move.

Nixon also claims Toney could be open to the move on loan because he is keen to get into Tuchel’s squad next summer and knows playing for Hammers would boost his chances.

The Sun journalist says West Ham are looking at a loan deal where they pay a large part of his wages.

And the Irons are currently looking into ways of getting around tax problems.
