Is Jameson Williams playing tonight? Why Lions WR is off to lackluster start vs. Bucs

The Detroit Lions got off to a red-hot start on offense early on in the Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but wide receiver Jameson Williams did not play a role in that impressive start.
Williams is the Lions’ No. 2 wide receiver and enters Week 7 ranked third on the team in receiving yards behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta.
However, things are not going well for Williams early on in the Monday night contest against the Buccaneers. Here’s a closer look at what’s going on.
Is Jameson Williams playing tonight?
UPDATE: One half in the books and Williams has just one official target. Sadly, this is a microcosm of the boom-or-bust player Williams is.
UPDATE: Williams saw two targets on the Lions’ latest drive, but he was called for a pass interference on the first one, negating his catch, and the second target was a bit low and Williams couldn’t bring it in.
UPDATE: Williams still doesn’t have so much as a single target after five drives. It’s shaping up to be a frustrating night for the Lions wideout.
UPDATE: Now through four series and still nothing for Williams. The Lions’ offense hasn’t been as sharp since an explosive opening drive.
UPDATE: Still no targets after three Lions offensive series. It has been a heavy dose of St. Brown and Gibbs, but nothing so far out of Williams.
Yes, Williams is active and in the lineup, he just hasn’t been targeted yet.
The Lions struck quickly on the first drive, but only St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs were targeted.
On the second drive, the Lions were moving once again, but Jared Goff fumbled the ball away and turned it over after four plays, so Williams didn’t have much of a chance to get going.
Hopefully things change soon.
