Rush Concedes Resellers Are ‘Having a Field Day’ With Their Reunion Tour

The subdivisions didn’t end in the high-school halls. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have added 17 cities to Rush’s 50th-anniversary tour, admitting in a new video that they forgot how awesome and kick ass they are, so much so that hundreds of thousands of people would pay to see them live. “We are blown away by the response to the announcement we made a few weeks ago that we’re going back on tour,” Lee said. “And I cannot tell you how surprising and overwhelmed we are.” (“Totally blown away by the response,” Lifeson reiterated.) However, the duo — who will be joined by German drummer Anika Nilles to replace Neil Peart behind his fortress of a kit — are aware of the corrupt industry of people trying to price out fans with inflated ticket costs. “The resellers are having a field day out there, jacking up the prices, and just be aware of that,” Lee explained. “Go to the source. Thank you again. We just can’t wait to get onstage and make all those mistakes that we’ve been practicing.” They suggested sticking with certified platforms such as Ticketmaster (not the best, eh) or Rush’s official website for the fairest opportunities. And until next summer’s tour kickoff, the boys plan to “go back into the gym” to get into fighting shape for the new shows. Hey, that’s the spirit of something.
