Long wait times at some poll locations in Red Deer

Some poll locations in Red Deer are experiencing up an an hour wait.

The City of Red Deer is posting wait times on its website (elections.reddeer.ca/for-voters/findmystation/wait-times/) and as of 4 p.m., most wait times were between 45 minutes to an hour or longer.

The city is reminding voters to be patient at polling stations as the process may be delayed due to the establishment of Alberta’s new permanent elector registry. Voters will be required to complete an elector register form at the voting station, even if they’re registered to vote.

Wait times at other poll locations as of 11:30 a.m. are as follows:

Northside Community Centre YMCA – 6391 76 Street — 45-60 minutes

iHotel & Conference Centre Red Deer – 6500 67 Street — 45-60 minutes

Deer Park Church – 2960 39 Street — 1 to 1.5 hours

Collicutt Centre – 3031 30 Avenue — greater than 1.5 hours

Harvest Centre, Westerner Park – 4847A 19 Street — 1 to 1.5 hours

Parkland Mall – 6359 50 Avenue — 1 to 1.5 hours

Baymont Hotel Red Deer – 4311 49 Avenue — 45-60 minutes

Poll locations in Red Deer are open until 8 p.m. Election results are not expected to be available until after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
