Dodgers Get Massive Tanner Scott Injury News Ahead of World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Tanner Scott could join the team for the World Series after missing the NLCS due to an injury.
Scott signed a four-year, $72 million contract over the winter, making him one of the highest-paid bullpen arms in baseball. His career featured a spot on the All-Star team and multiple seasons’ worth of dominance as a high-leverage relief pitcher.

Scott finished with 3.9 bWAR in 2023 and 4.0 bWAR in 2024. He pitched more than 70 innings each season, showing his ability to stay on the field.
Unfortunately for the Dodgers and Scott, his move over to sunny Los Angeles has not gone as planned. He had a terrible season, posting a 4.74 ERA in 57 innings pitched, while his bWAR was at -0.6.
Scott was already going to find it hard to get work during the playoffs, but to make matters worse, he suffered a lower-body injury during the NLDS, forcing him to be removed from the roster and subsequently miss the NLCS as well.
According to new reporting from Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the reliever could join the Dodgers for the World Series, for which he would be eligible.
“Scott, who struggled his first year as Dodgers closer (4.74) but is among the most talented pen arms, told The Post he’s throwing and has hopes he can rejoin the team for the World Series,” Heyman wrote in his story.
“He called the ailment an infection while a Dodgers official called it a cyst. Scott is working hard, but it’s uncertain if there’s enough buildup time to rejoin the team as a back-end reliever, which coincidentally is what his recent procedure accomplished.”

On Thursday, when speaking with reporters, Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes addressed Scott’s injury and provided additional details on the ailment.
“Sounds like anything from seven days to two weeks,” Gomes said.
“It sounded like it was uncomfortable. Then we thought he was on the other side of it. And then it got worse to the point of having to have the procedure.”
Even though Scott is not the same dominant reliever, he could help provide some outs against lefty hitters and start building his confidence back.
