Spurs’ Carter Bryant reveals how he is approaching his rookie campaign

After completing his first training camp in the NBA, rookie Carter Bryant is eager to hit the court and tip off the 2025-26 campaign with the San Antonio Spurs.

Bryant logged five appearances in the preseason, averaging 8.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists on 31.6% shooting from 3-point range. He debuted on Oct. 6 with a 15-point performance against the Guangzhou Loong Lions.

The 14th pick has ingratiated himself well within the roster and community since joining the organization, learning from his teammates and coaches. While it may be overwhelming, Bryant just wants to take it one moment at a time this season.

“I try not to put too much pressure on any individual thing, whether that is on the court or off the court,” Bryant said Monday. “I think something that a lot of people fail to recognize is that the day is going to move no matter how you are feeling, no matter the circumstances, whether it is good or bad. Understanding that not to treat one thing more important than the other. That is just how I try to approach everything.”

Bryant and the Spurs begin the season with a matchup against No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday (9:30 p.m. EDT, ESPN). The road tilt will also offer the first look at his teammate, No. 2 pick Dylan Harper, on the court.

San Antonio made a few minor tweaks to the roster over the offseason, with Bryant and Harper among the additions. The group enters the year aiming to break a playoff drought and return to the postseason for the first time since 2019 under coach Mitch Johnson.

Bryant will soon experience his first opening night and begin what should be a long and productive career ahead in the NBA. He is excited to get to work with the Spurs.

“It is what you dream of,” Bryant said. It is what you work for. A lot of hours, a lot of emotions; the highs, the lows; good days, bad days. Everything is kind of in your mind, and it is the gratitude of having the opportunity to start something beautiful, but also, it is the start of something great.”
