MANILA, Philippines — Just after she achieved her career high in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) standings, Philippine tennis star Alex Eala is expected to make the climb once again.
Presently ranked 53rd in the official WTA rankings, Eala is currently ranked 52nd in the live ranks.
This comes as she returned to China to prepare for the Guangzhou Open, where she will play in the singles and doubles tournaments.
Her continued rise was attributed to her Guadalajara Open championship last month. as well as appearances in several other WTA tournaments.
In Guangzhou, Eala is facing off against Claire Liu of the United States in the women’s singles first round, while in the doubles, she and partner Nadiia Kichenok, will face China’s Tang Qianhui and Britain’s Emily Appleton in the round of 16 on Wednesday. ARIC JOHN SY CUA
