Severe thunderstorm warning in place for Windsor-Essex

Environment Canada is warning of severe thunderstorms in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 4:15 p.m., the federal weather agency said meteorologists were tracking a severe storm capable of producing very strong winds, with gusts up to 100 km/h.
The line of storms spans from LaSalle to 10 kilometres south of Amherstburg and is moving east at 95 km/h, the agency said.
“Local utility outages are likely. Damage to roofs, fences, soft shelters or trees is likely. Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches,” the agency stated.
Environment Canada says those outside should take steps to protect themselves from possible hail or flying debris.
“Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches,” the agency said.
