Russell Wilson fires back at Sean Payton’s ‘classless’ remarks about Giants’ quarterback

Hello!

New York Giants backup quarterback Russell Wilson seemingly responded to remarks from Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton on Tuesday, and the response is wildly different than Wilson’s typical persona (so much so that my initial assumption was that Wilson’s account might have been hacked).

After the Broncos beat the Giants on Sunday, Payton said that he previously hoped New York would not turn to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart before playing against Denver, implying that Payton wanted to play against Wilson.

Wilson’s official Twitter/X page seemingly responded with this tweet on Tuesday: “Classless… but not surprised….Didn’t realize you’re still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the media. 😎😂 #LetsRide 🤣”

Wilson went 7-8 as a starter under Payton in 2023 before being benched.

After benching Wilson with two games remaining in the 2023 season, Payton took on the largest dead money cap hit in NFL history to cut Wilson during the 2024 offseason, then he used a first-round draft pick to select quarterback Bo Nix.

Payton seemingly took an indirect shot at Wilson while praising Dart, and Wilson has now seemingly responded. Just another Tuesday in Broncos Country.
