Nobody Wants This Season 2 Sneak Peek Dives in Headfirst

Season 2 of Nobody Wants This is back. In the show’s first few minutes, Morgan (Justine Lupe) ushers in the new installment with the question about unlikely couple Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) that’s on all of our minds: Will their relationship make it out of the honeymoon phase?

In this exclusive sneak peek of the Season 2 premiere, Morgan and Joanne have that very discussion while recording their podcast. Press play above to watch the opening scene of Season 2 — with a special message from everyone’s favorite lovebirds.

It was the “hand me your ice cream” heard around the world. When Nobody Wants This debuted in September 2024, Erin Foster’s semi-autobiographical series about an agnostic podcaster falling in love with a rabbi was inescapable — with its poppy track list, razor-sharp references, swoony shots of Los Angeles, and nostalgia-powered coupling of Bell and Brody. It received rave reviews, with claims that it had revived the romantic comedy genre; a slew of Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, Critics Choice Award, Golden Globe nominations and wins; and a highly anticipated second season.

The end of Season 1 found Joanne grasping just how important converting to Judaism is to Noah, and tearfully fleeing to spare him any more torturous indecision. When Noah chases after her, their Francis and the Lights-soundtracked reunion in the season’s final minutes brings sweet relief — but no more clarity on what the couple will do about what Brody refers to as “the Big C”: conversion.

When Season 2 opens, the dust feels like it’s finally settled following their whirlwind yin and yang romance. As Bell puts it, “they’re at the point in their relationship where things get really interesting.” In other words, TV’s favorite couple has to figure out what it means to actually be a couple. “Once the honeymoon period has dissipated, you start to look for patterns of why they’re gonna break your heart or things they’re doing wrong,” Bell, who also serves as executive producer, tells Netflix. “To continue to give the person the benefit of the doubt and live outside your comfort zone so that you can make a whole new life in a partnership is so hard.” Brody adds, “If the end of Season 1 left you with some questions, they have similar questions of each other.”

Joanne and Noah aren’t the only ones navigating choppy relationship waters. The love (or hate, in Esther’s case) triangle between Esther (Jackie Tohn), Morgan, and Sasha (Timothy Simons) deepens — and gets even more complicated. A handful of big personalities also join in on the fun, including Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl), Alex Karpovsky (Girls), Arian Moayed (Inventing Anna), Seth Rogen (The Studio, The Interview), and Kate Berlant (Don’t Worry Darling, Duck Butter).

With television legends Jenni Konner (Girls) and Bruce Eric Kaplan (Girls, Six Feet Under) joining creator and writer Foster on the creative team as showrunners and executive producers, Season 2 promises the same lived-in onscreen dynamic that made the world fall in love with the series in the first place.

Watch the new season of Nobody Wants This on Netflix Oct. 23.
