BAFTA announces the launch of BAFTA Playback sponsored by Samsung, a brand-new digital series presented in collaboration with Samsung, the Official Screen Partner of BAFTA. The six-part series delves into career-defining moments and influences behind some of the most celebrated talents in film and TV, featuring commentary and clips curated by the actors themselves.

Premiering today, November 4, on BAFTA’s YouTube channel, the six-part series boasts an exceptional line-up of acclaimed actors, including BAFTA winners and nominees. The opening episode features Matthew McConaughey, with subsequent episodes featuring Colin Farrell (November 6), Jeremy Allen White (November 11), Cynthia Erivo (November 13), Jennifer Lawrence (November 18), and Michael B. Jordan (November 20). New episodes will be released every Tuesday and Thursday until November 20.

Emma Baehr, executive director of Awards and Content, BAFTA, said: “Celebrating outstanding storytelling, and showcasing the craft that goes into making films, games, and television is at the heart of what we do at BAFTA, so we are delighted to be able to bring together an exceptional line-up of actors to launch the first BAFTA Playback sponsored by Samsung. What a treat to be able to watch them talk through their creative influences and some of their favourite moments throughout their career.”

Filmed in a bespoke, lounge-style set, complete with memorabilia and personalised nods to each guest’s career and influences, each episode sees the actor watch their handpicked scenes on a Samsung TV screen.

Zeena Hill, marketing director for TV/AV at Samsung Electronics UK, said: “Storytelling sits at the heart of the screen experience, and BAFTA Playback beautifully captures that connection between innovation, creativity and technology. We’re proud that with Samsung’s superiority in picture quality, our screens have become the stage, where some of the world’s most celebrated actors bring their stories to life. Whether on set or in the living room, our mission is to ensure every detail of those stories is experienced exactly as the creator intended – rich, immersive, and true to the art of performance.”

This series builds on BAFTA’s commitment to delivering best-in-class digital content that celebrates creative excellence across film, games, and television, while inspiring and engaging our global social media audiences. As BAFTA’s Official Screen Partner, Samsung is proud to support the arts by bringing industry-leading display technology to the forefront of creative storytelling and audience experiences.

With a social media community of 3.3 million followers and an average of 2.5 million YouTube views each month, BAFTA continues to expand its global reach. In the past year alone, BAFTA’s digital content has garnered 350 million video views across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, highlighting the demand for behind-the-scenes, talent-led storytelling.
