It seems like Draymond Green and Jarred Vanderbilt haven’t made up after their preseason skirmish. Unfortunately, they are at it again, on the opening night of the 2025-26 NBA season. Both players are fierce competitors, especially on the defensive end.

Green started his night off on the wrong foot and was given a technical by the referees while he was on the bench. He was already fired up in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Lakers. Apparently, his intensity is already at mid-season form.

So much so, when Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt went for a drive from the baseline, he lost the ball and collided with Green. The two quickly exchanged words and shoved each other.

Green was the first one to shove, but when Vando retaliated, he was awarded a tech by the baseline referee. DG’s action went unscathed. Perhaps the refs don’t want to toss him out in a tightly contested game. The Warriors went on to win against the Lakers, 119-109.

Draymond Green Talks About Curry’s Successor

As much as we’d brush off this topic, Stephen Curry is within retirement age. At 37, there’s little hope that he’d play past 40 years old in the NBA. Even though his scoring has remained elite, the Warriors’ future is in serious peril once Curry walks away from the game.

Curiously, Green already has someone in mind when it comes to Curry’s successor. It’s none other than Dubs starting shooting guard Brandin Podziemski. The 22-year-old has tons of fans within the league, but it’s hard to visualize him taking a leap from a rotation piece to a superstar.

But it’s hard to argue with Draymond’s assessment of his current teammate. Perhaps he’s seen something in Podziemski that made him think that he’s capable of elevating his game in the near future.
