A UK comedy icon has revealed that they rejected the Celebrity Traitors as they ‘couldn’t think of anything they’d rather do less’.

The spin-off of the popular BBC series kicked off earlier in the month as 19 famous faces joined Claudia WInkleman in the Scottish Highlands.

With up to £100,000 for a charity of the winner’s choice on the line, the first four episodes have featured lots of twists, turns and viral moments.

Serving as the traitors, who are trying to deceive the faithfuls, is comedian Alan Carr, ITV presenter Jonathan Ross and singer Cat Burns.

The trio have managed to escape unscathed to date, with the faithfuls voting their teammates out at the first three roundtables.

To date, YouTuber Niko Omilana, EastEnders actress Tameka Empson and BBC broadcaster Clare Balding have all been banished despite not being traitors.

It was revealed by the BBC last week that the first episode of Celebrity Traitors was the biggest unscripted episode across the UK market since 2022.

Despite viewers rushing to catch each installment of the series, one celebrity who fans would like to see take part has revealed that they said no to it.

Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes is known for her unique sense of humour and always saying what she really thinks, making her a perfect fit for the series.

Making an appearance at the Cheltenham Literature Festival over the weekend, Miriam was asked about whether she would be interested in taking part on the Celebrity Traitors.

“Well, I can tell you the answer to that. No! I was offered this job. No. Just recently and I can’t think of anything I’d rather less do.

“I’m not into that. I’ve never watched it, I don’t intend to watch it,” she said.

Meanwhile, on a recent appearance on Ireland AM, Miriam, who has appeared in Doctor Who, Blackadder and James and the Giant Peach over the years, also admitted that being in Harry Potter ‘is not a career highlight’ for her.

“That was a delightful experience because I was working with Maggie Smith whom I adored and she was lovely to me. She is not always lovely to everybody but she was lovely to me.

“Oh yes, if she didn’t like you, you knew it, you know. But she was great, she was fabulous,” she said.

Miriam played the role of Professor Sprout in the first two Harry Potter movies, becoming a fan favourite among fans of the JK Rowling book series.
