The entire first season of Chainsaw Man is available for free on Crunchyroll’s YouTube page as a catch-up watch party ahead of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, releasing in North America Oct. 24. The five-hour stream, which showcases the entire series, will only be available for a limited time, so make sure you catch the stream while it’s still available if you need a quick refresher before the film.
Created by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a debt-ridden Devil Hunter who’s betrayed and killed by the yakuza, only to be reborn as the titular human-power-tool hybrid after merging with his loyal devil-dog, Pochita. Thrown into a brutal war between devils and hunters, Denji encounters the enigmatic Reze (a seemingly sweet barista hiding dangerous secrets), igniting a deadly conflict where love and survival intertwine. The movie picks up where season 1 left off and explores Denji’s growing bond with Reze. Torn between his feelings for her and his devotion to his boss Makima (a devil in the form of a red-headed woman), Denji is forced to confront both his heart and a powerful new threat.
Tatsuya Yoshihara, who previously directed episodes of the anime, is at the helm of the movie. Hiroshi Seko returns to write the script, with Kazutaka Sugiyama as character designer, all under MAPPA. Souta Yamazaki and Shun serve as sub character designers, Sota Shigetsugu takes on action animation direction, and Shoichi leads as the main animator. Devil designs are handled by Riki Matsuura, alongside Look Back director Kiyotaka Oshiyama.
