Weather to stay unsettled and mixed for the rest of the week, says Met Éireann

Cloud will soon build from the southwest, followed by outbreaks of rain gradually spreading northwards, but with some eastern and northern parts of the country possibly remaining dry, until later tonight.

The rain will be heavy at times with some spot flooding and thundery bursts possible, especially in southern parts of the country, with highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.

Wednesday night will be wet for most part, with widespread rain, with some spot flooding and thundery bursts possible, especially in south and south-east.

The rain will clear south-eastwards towards morning, becoming mostly confined to Leinster with clear spells and scattered showers following from the northwest.

Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees, coolest in the north.

Thursday will see a wet start in the east and southeast as rain clears into the Irish Sea through the morning.

Thursday afternoon will be blustery with scattered showers pushing in from the Atlantic, most frequent in the northwest and west and becoming heavier, with some hail possible.

However, there will be some long sunny spells too, with highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.

On Thursday night, showers will be most frequent and heaviest over the western half of the country, with some clear spells too.

A mix of showers and sunny spells are expected on Friday morning, most frequent and heaviest over the southern half of the country, before becoming lighter and more isolated later in the day, with highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.

Friday night will be mostly dry with long clear spells.
