John Stamos clearly isn’t a fan of Lori Loughlin’s ex Mossimo Giannulli.
The “Full House” alum spoke out about his former costar and the fashion designer – who announced their separation in early October – in an interview on Josh Peck’s “Good Guys” podcast, where he claimed Giannulli is the one responsible for getting Loughlin caught up in the infamous Varsity Blues college admissions scandal.
Stamos recalled how he talked to Loughlin during the morning of the news dropping about the scandal, but she didn’t seem aware of what was happening. He went on to say the actress “went to prison for” Giannulli. Loughlin spent two months behind bars before being released from a prison in Dublin, California, in December 2020, while Giannulli completed around two weeks of home confinement in April 2021.
“She’s not a liar. She’s a saint,” he said. After Loughlin returned from prison, he asked her about the experience, with her saying, “You know, I met a lot of nice ladies in there, we have a book club.”
He continued: “That’s her! She didn’t deserve to be dragged through that. I know for a fact it was all him.” He said “even the girls” seemed to have little to do with it.
USA TODAY has reached out to Loughlin’s rep. Giannulli’s reps could not be reached for comment.
The parents pleaded guilty to paying half a million dollars to get daughters Olivia Jade Giannulli, now 26, and Isabella Rose Giannulli, now 27, into the University of Southern California during the scandal. Both girls were admitted into the Los Angeles private university as crew recruits despite neither having played the sport.
Earlier this month, Loughlin and Giannulli announced they had decided to live apart. While the two are separated, no legal proceedings are underway, her publicist Elizabeth Much confirmed to USA TODAY. The pair married in 1997.
Stamos went on to call the fashion designer a “terrible narcissist.”
“Whatever he did to her, it busted her up to the core. She put up with a lot over the years,” he said. “I know she’s just devastated. I just hate to see her go through this.”
