Suns tip off 2025-26 season with home opener against Kings

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — After some major revamps this offseason, the Phoenix Suns are back and tipping off another season in the Valley of the Sun.
The new-look Suns will open the 2025-26 season at home as they tip off against the Sacramento Kings at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. This offseason, Jordan Ott was hired as head coach, replacing Mike Budenholzer, and the team said goodbye to several players, including Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkić. The team also sent veteran Kevin Durant to Houston as part of a seven-team trade, acquiring guard Jalen Green, forward Dillon Brooks and a massive haul of picks.
All fans in attendance at Wednesday’s game will receive a free t-shirt. If you can’t make it to the game, tune in to Arizona’s Family Sports to watch live.

Gibby and Ian spoke with Tom Leander, a longtime broadcaster with the Phoenix Suns, about the new changes and what fans can expect this season. Leander joined the broadcast crew in 1993 for his childhood team and has served as the play-by-play announcer.
“I’m a huge Jordan Ott fan, new head coach. He’s so well-prepared and he’s connected with the players. The players have connected with him because they spent two weeks in Macao [China],” he said. “This is going to be a really fun product. They’re going to play hard and make Suns fans very proud.”
Leander said he’s most excited to see the rookies on the court. In this year’s NBA Draft, the team selected Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea.
“Maluach is going to be a really good player; might take a little bit more time. Koby Brea as a shooter, Rasheer Fleming defensively. I think that’s what the fans are excited about, the youth that has been infused in this team,” he explained.
