Line of Duty star Vicky McClure has revealed that she would ‘love’ to do a new show with former her co-stars as she provided an update on the BBC series.
The 42-year-old Nottingham native is best known for playing the role of DI Kate Fleming in the hit crime drama.
Airing from 2012 to 2021, boasting six seasons and 36 episodes, the police procedural series is regarded as one of the BBC’s finest programmes.
With stars such as Stephen Graham and Kelly Macdonald appearing during Line of Duty’s run, Vicky was a mainstay of the fictional police force known as the Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12), with Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar.
Tasked with ‘policing the police’, the AC-12 were questioning at all times if they could trust anyone, including those in their teams.
Since its conclusion in 2021, Line of Duty fans have been manifesting that it will return in some form, possibly receiving a film like Peaky Blinders.
Addressing Line of Duty’s future, Vicky said that she doesn’t want to give fans ‘false hope’ about a new series.
However, she revealed that she’s open to doing a travelogue with her cast-mates should the opportunity arise.

Vicky told the Radio Times magazine: “I don’t have any updates, I’m afraid. I don’t want to give anyone any false hope.
“We’ve all been very clear that we’d absolutely love to do another series. Adrian, Martin and I have been talking about doing a travel show together, though.
“If any of us ever has any spare time, we’ll do it. Line of Duty gave us two brilliant things – our careers and our friendship.”
Vicky will next be seen reprising her role as bomb disposal expert Lana Washington in the third series of ITV drama Trigger Point.
Returning on Sunday (October 26), Vicky explained how the cast and crew got a ‘real buzz’ when Queen Camilla visited the set.
“She visited as part of ITV’s 70th-year celebration. I’m told she had the option to go anywhere, but chose us. It gave the entire crew a real buzz.
“On the day she came we were shooting an explosion, so we talked her through the scene, but unfortunately it was all going to be done by special effects, so all she saw was me running for cover!
“She did have a go with the clapperboard, though, which she enjoyed,” she revealed.
Trigger Point’s latest season will see her character suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and tinnitus.
“My dad has tinnitus – he was a joiner for years and used power drills all day long without ear protection, bless him. He described how it is, but it’s a very difficult thing to portray on screen, so I rely on the sound team a lot as it’s not something that you see.
“In terms of the PTSD, I read up as much as I could, spoke to people who had it and realised it’s very personal and doesn’t come in only one form,” she noted.
Despite her intense experiences on the show, Vicky is grateful that she doesn’t ever have to diffuse bombs in real life.
She explained: “Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen so many variations of devices that I’ve got a good understanding of them. I’d know how to approach and what to check.
“Joel Snarr (Trigger Point’s bomb disposal adviser) taught me a lot, but if it’s the real thing, call the bomb squad, don’t call me!”
