Elon Musk claims Tesla (TSLA) FSD and Optimus Robot can end world poverty

Elon Musk is incredibly bullish on Tesla’s Optimus Robot and its ability to address the world’s biggest issues.
During Tesla’s (TSLA) latest quarterly earnings call, CEO Elon Musk took the microphone to discuss a bevy of matters related to the EV company. This included Optimus, the humanoid robot in development at Tesla. While talking about the robot, Elon Musk said he believes that FSD and the Optimus Robot could help end world poverty.
“We believe with Optimus and Self Driving, you can actually create a world where there is no poverty. Where everyone has access to the finest medical care,” Musk said during Tesla’s Q3 2025 earnings call. “Optimus will be an incredible surgeon, for example. And imagine if everyone had access to an incredible surgeon.”

Musk went on to say that Tesla will need to ensure the safety of Optimus for such a future to be reached, before saying that he believes we’re on our way to “sustainable abundance.” The Tesla Optimus Robot has been in the works for years at the EV company, with Elon Musk and co. providing periodical updates on its status.
Optimus is yet to be widely released to the public. Elon Musk’s claim is just a small piece of what was an eventful earnings call for Tesla, which also reported its quarterly earnings this afternoon.
