Bruins in NBA Norman Powell starts new journey

Former UCLA Bruin Norman Powell is entering his 11th season in the NBA. He will do so donning a new jersey of the Miami Heat. He was dealt to Miami this offseason after spending 3.5 productive years with the Los Angeles Clippers. Powell played a key role for the team mainly coming off the bench until last year where he started all 60 games he played
Powell put up respectable numbers averaging 17.4 points per game over 201 games. He did so on 48.4/42.1/81.6 shooting splits which are all above average for guards. The trade was seen by many as a puzzling one as the Clippers stacked up their bigs this offseason. Powell is already making a good connection in Miami with another former Bruin in Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Quick-hitters for Norman Powell
It’s as easy as pinning for him and letting him curl off it

Powell spent four seasons with the Bruins from 2011-2015 where he progressed every season with the team. He was 1st team All PAC-12 his senior season. After he concluded his college career, he was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft. The Milwaukee Bucks traded his rights on draft night to the Toronto Raptors.
Powell was a key contributor on the 2019 Raptors team that won the NBA championship. After 1.5 more seasons there, the Raptors decided to break their team up, as Kawhi Leonard leaving in 2019 dashed their hopes of competing again. Powell found a nice home in Portland where he was productive before landing in Los Angeles.

Miami will be a good place for Powell to continue his scoring prowess. Los Angeles ultimately needed a big to pair with Ivica Zubac. That’s where John Collins comes in and then they got Bradley Beal as their two guard at a much cheaper price. But Powell continues to represent his alma mater well and is now paired with another former Bruin in Jaquez Jr.
