Amazon Recall Update: Threat-To-Life Alert Issued For Item Sold Nationwide

Amazon customers nationwide have been warned that two recalled products pose a risk of injury and have been urged to stop using them immediately, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Shenzhen Quanyuanfa Trading Co. Ltd., doing business as Bealife, announced a recall for a limited number of its 5-Drawer Dressers on October 23 due to a risk of tip-overs and entrapment.
J & D Brush Co. LLC, based in New York, also announced a recall on Thursday for Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons as the product could pose a burn hazard.
Newsweek contacted Shenzhen Quanyuanfa Trading Co. Ltd. and Bio Ionic for comment by email outside of regular working hours.
Why It Matters
The CPSC warned that the dressers violate the mandatory standard for clothing storage units required by the STURDY Act.
It said that the product is “unstable if they are not anchored to a wall, posing serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in injuries or death to children.”
For the curling irons, the CPSC said that the “barrel of the curling iron can snap and detach, posing a burn hazard to consumers.”
What To Know
The products affected by the recall are the following:
- Bealife 5-Drawer Dressers—around 410—model number: AP23-W
- Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Iron—about 357,000—model number: LXT-CL-1.0—date code: between 0722 and 1223.
The dressers are white and measure around 32 inches high, 28 inches wide, and 16 inches deep. They were manufactured in Vietnam.
The product was sold on Amazon from June 2025 through August 2025 for around $76.
As of October 23, no injuries or incidents had been reported in connection with the use of the dressers.
The curling irons have a black handle and black barrel, and measure around 15.8 inches long, 2.87 inches high, and 1.65 inches wide.
The product was sold online on Amazon and Bioionic.com. It was also sold in-storm and online at Salon Centric, Ulta, Sephora and Nordstrom, and in salons and beauty supply stores nationwide from August 2022 through July 2024 for around $165.
As of October 23, the company had received 158 reports of the curling iron barrel detaching, including six minor burn injuries.
What People Are Saying
The CPSC said regarding the recalled dressers: “Consumers should stop using the recalled dressers immediately if they are not anchored to a wall and place them in an area that children cannot access.”
The CPSC says on its website: “Federal law prohibits the sale of products subject to commission-ordered recalls. Compliance with mandatory stability standards is necessary to protect children from potentially fatal tip-over incidents.”
It adds: “One of the biggest safety improvements of the past decade has been CPSC’s federal mandatory standard, which was directed by Congress through passage of the STURDY (Stop Tip-overs of Unstable, Risky Dressers on Youth) Act. The mandatory standard, which went into effect in September 2023, requires clothing storage units such as dressers and armoires to meet key stability requirements. CPSC continues to work with manufacturers and retailers to recall unsafe dressers and to keep them out of consumers’ homes.”
Peter Feldman, acting chairman of the CPSC, said: “CPSC has made great strides in the past 10 years to minimize these hazards and save lives. I am grateful for the work of our dedicated staff, safety advocates, and the American furniture industry, without whose collaboration none of this would be possible.”
What Happens Next
The recalls are listed as ongoing, according to the CPSC.
Customers who bought the dressers are advised to contact Bealife for instructions on how to dispose of them, and will be asked to email a photo demonstrating disposal for a full refund.
People who purchased the curling irons are urged to contact Bio Ionic to register for a free replacement curling iron. They will be asked to cut off the plug and return it to the company using a prepaid shipping label.
