Fans fume over Irwin’s ‘Wicked’ performance

What does a man need to do to get a 10 out of 10 around here?

That’s the question on many Robert Irwin fans’ lips after the star’s latest performance on America’s Dancing With The Stars.

Irwin took to the stage with partner Witney Carson, giving the Wicked number Dancing Through Life a red-hot go. The song was of course made famous on stage but truly came alive with Jonathan Bailey’s performance as Fiyero in the movie adaptation of the classic.

First reactions from fans included those who were wowed once again by the Wildlife Warrior’s dance moves and charisma on stage.

“He was so goooooood!” one fan wrote on X.

“So iconic,” another agreed.

And another – one of many – begged: “Give him your votes people!”

Sadly for fans, Robert, and even mum Terri watching in the audience, the 21-year-old failed to completely impress the judges.

While many viewers believed he deserved the full score, with judges awarding the duo a total score of 36 out of 40, praising their storytelling and precision but admitting it wasn’t the best performance of the night.

Outraged fans took to social media shortly after the results were delivered, fuming that Irwin once again failed to get the full credit he deserved.

“Robert Irwin robbed AGAIN like that was literally Jonathan Bailey,” one person fumed on X.

“Not only is Robert Irwin dancing through life, he’s also dancing through bullshit with this riggory,” another added.

Another fan agreed that this was the performance that should’ve cemented his spot on the top of the star-studded dance list.

“Robert deserved the first 10 of the season,” they insisted.

Another agreed, asking the question many others wanted answered: “What does Robert Irwin have to do to get at least one 10?”

The Aussie star’s Wicked performance comes after a highly emotional night last week, which saw him dedicate his dance to Phil Collins’ You’ll Be In My Heart to mum, Terri.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about my mum and her strength, I’ve been reminiscing on the times we’ve spent as a family and how she has kept my dad part of my life,” he shared on Instagram, promoting the show.

“This dance is for my mum, it’s for anyone who’s lost someone… and it’s for all the strong mothers of the world who deserve our recognition and appreciation.”

Despite leaving everyone in floods of tears, Irwin failed to deliver a full score that week too. The same happened the week prior when Robert ripped off his shirt for a saucy salsa and received a modest 22 out of 30 score.

With a Magic Mike-esque showstopper, a sob fest and now Broadway attempt, we’re not sure what else the famous snake-wrangler can pull out to impress the judges. Actually, maybe a live snake IS what is needed next?
