Pratika Rawal etched her name in the history books during India’s vital ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 clash against New Zealand at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium after she and Smriti Mandhana gave India a solid start following Sophie Devine’s decision to bowl first on winning the toss.

Pratika Rawal Creates History

Having taken 23 innings to reach the milestone, Rawal is the joint-fastest in history to score 1000 runs in Women’s ODI cricket. She has equalled a record of Australia’s Lindsay Reeler, which has stood for 37 years since 1988, to be the fastest female cricketer to complete the huge landmark.

Rawal is the fastest player in the 21st century to reach the massive landmark, breaking a record jointly held by the Australian pair of Meg Lanning and Nicole Bolton.

Fastest To 1000 ODI Runs

Rawal also comfortably broke Mithali Raj’s record for being the fastest Indian female cricketer to reach the milestone. The ex-Indian cricketer had taken 29 innings to reach the massive milestone. Among male cricketers of India, only Shubman Gill (19) took fewer innings as Rawal went past Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan’s (24) tally.

Earlier this year, she had also set the record for being the fastest female cricketer to reach 500 runs (8 innings), breaking a record of England cricket legend Charlotte Edwards (9 innings).

Before today’s game, Rawal has seven half-centuries and one fifty to her name in the ODI format.
