CBS Picks Up Robert & Michelle King’s ‘Cupertino’ Starring Mike Colter To Series For 2026-27

A decade after the end of The Good Wife, CBS will be launching a new legal drama from its creators Robert and Michelle King. The network has given a series order to Cupertino, created and executive produced by the Kings and starring The Good Wife alum Mike Colter, to premiere during the 2026-27 season.

The pickup decision comes shortly after CBS brass received material out of the Cupertino writers room.

Cupertino is a David vs. Goliath legal drama set in the heart of Silicon Valley that follows a lawyer (Colter) who is being cheated out of his stock-options by his former employer, a tech start-up. Refusing to back down, he joins forces with another recently fired attorney to represent those taken advantage of by the tech elite, and help them fight back in a high-stakes battle against the Goliaths controlling Silicon Valley.

Originally set up at CBS for development in summer 2024, Cupertino took a major step forward in May when, after the Kings’ pilot script had been well received, the network commissioned a full writers room to produce 12 more scripts. Colter, who most recently starred in Robert and Michelle King’s supernatural drama series Evil for CBS and subsequently Paramount+, came on board to star over the summer.

The writers room opened in September after Robert King finished his duties directing Episode 302 of the Kings’ CBS crime drama series Elsbeth, which he also co-wrote. The first scripts and other materials produced by the room were delivered to CBS earlier this month, I hear.

Done under CBS’ long-term development model, Cupertino joins another drama series already picked up for the network’s 2026-27 season, Einstein, starring Matthew Gray Gubler.

Cupertino is produced by CBS Studios. Writers Robert and Michelle King will serve as co-showrunners and executive produce under their CBS Studios-based banner, King Size Productions, with Robert King set to direct the premiere episode. Liz Glotzer also serves as executive producer.

Robert and Michelle King are repped by UTA and Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka.
