Ryan Reynolds Surprises Students At Westports Staples High School

WESTPORT, CT — Actor Ryan Reynolds, best known for his action-comedy roles in the “Deadpool” movies, stopped by Staples High School in Westport on Monday to view the rehearsal of the upcoming Staples Players production of “Les Miserables.”

“Many, many thanks to actor Ryan Reynolds for stopping by our rehearsal yesterday and sharing some insight about his life and career with our excited cast and crew of “Les Mis”!” officials wrote on Facebook.

Reynolds is a big fan of the popular musical, and stopped by the school at the request of the Fipp family, according to the post.

Westporter Lindsay Fipp serves as president of the nonprofit Staples Players Boosters Inc., which helps raise funds for the high school theater company, which has produced a plethora of outstanding performances over the past two decades.

The actor, who also stars in funny Mint Mobile commercials for the phone company he sold to T-Mobile, also filmed a short promo for the Staples production. See below.

“”‘Les Mis,’ as you may or may not know, is amazing, and it will be performed by these folks,” Reynolds says in the video, swinging the camera over to view the cheering cast of the show. “I didn’t graduate high school.”

Reynolds is no stranger to Connecticut, having recently been in Ridgefield for the debut of a John Candy documentary he produced.

The Staples Players’ production of “Les Miserables” will be performed from Nov. 13 through Nov. 23. Click here for information on times and tickets.
