Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal broke the record for the highest opening partnership for India in a Women’s World Cup match. The duo smashed 212 for the first wicket to surpass the record of Thirush Kamini-Punam Raut’s 175-run opening stand, which the Indian batters got at the 2013 edition in India.
Earlier Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, had also scored 155 runs for the opening wicket against Australia in Visakhapatnam. Another impressive partnership was between Smriti Mandhana and Punam Raut, who put on 144 runs against England in Derby during the 2017 Women’s World Cup. Going further back, Anju Jain and Jwala Sharma made a solid 107-run opening stand against West Indies in Pretoria in 2005.

They registered their fifth century stands this year, equalling the all-time record set by Australia’s Belinda Clark and Lisa Keightley in 2000.
Smriti and Pratika have registered their fourth 150-plus partnership in WODIs, matching the record held by Belinda Clark, Lisa Keightley, Suzie Bates, and Amy Satterthwaite.
The pair also second 200-plus stand, just like Meg Lanning- Ellyse Perry, Tazmin Brits-Laura Wolvaardt and Tammy Beaumont-Amy Jones.
On Thursday, Prathika Rawal became the joint fastest in the world and the fastest Indian to surpass 1,000 runs in Women’s ODIs.
Smriti Mandhana also broke the world record for the most sixes hit in Women’s ODIs in a single calendar year.
Mandhana also surpassed New Zealand’s Suzie Bates to become the player with the second-most centuries in women’s ODIs, while Pratika also achieved her maiden WODI century.
It is just the third instance of both openers scoring hundreds in a Women’s ODI World Cup after England’s Lynne Thomas and Enid Bakewell (in 1973) and Australia’s Lindsay Reeler and Ruth Buckstein (in 1988).
