Foo Fighters announce band’s biggest Michigan concert to date

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will play Detroit for the first time since 2018.
After teasing the news earlier this week, Foo Fighters have announced an Aug. 6 show at Ford Field, marking the band’s biggest Michigan concert to date.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 31 via Ticketmaster. Pre-sale sign-ups are open now here and here; pre-sales start at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will be joined by openers Queens of the Stone Age — with whom Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl shares a history, having played drums on the band’s 2002 album “Songs for the Deaf” — and Mannequin Pussy.
Foo Fighters also released a new single, “Asking for a Friend,” on Thursday.
The band’s last Detroit concert was at Little Caesars Arena in October 2018. The Foos were due to play Saint Andrew’s Hall in May 2020 on its 25th anniversary tour, but the tour was scrapped when the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out live shows for 2020 and much of 2021.
August is shaping up to be a hefty month for rock concerts at Detroit stadiums. Last month, it was announced that Ed Sheeran will take the stage at the Detroit Lions’ home on Aug. 29, and My Chemical Romance will play next door at Comerica Park on Aug. 21.
