Oliver Glasner is still doing something at Crystal Palace that annoyed Eintracht Frankfurt

Oliver Glasner was hugely successful in Germany before moving to Crystal Palace in February 2024.

The 51-year-old managed to guide VfL Wolfsburg into the UEFA Champions League, before steering Eintracht Frankfurt into the same competition after winning the UEFA Europa League in 2022.

However, Oliver Glasner left Frankfurt in unpleasant circumstances, departing in May 2023 after a run of ten Bundesliga matches without a win, which led to a fallout internally at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Interestingly, German news outlet SPORT Bild cited a lack of rotation as one of the reasons for the collapse.

However, fans are becoming concerned over a lack of rotation, with the same eleven players typically playing every single game as the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Christantus Uche, Jaydee Canvot and Romain Esse are overlooked.

SPORT Bild believe this was also a point of discussion at Eintracht Frankfurt, with Glasner receiving internal criticism from his bosses, who felt players were lacking “strength” due to his stubbornness over the starting XI and that fringe players were not developing as expected because of a lack of action.

Lack of rotation could offer a hint toward contract decision

If Glasner continues to decide against rotating, it can only be assumed he is in it to win it for this season only – and has little regard for what happens beyond this campaign.

As every Crystal Palace fan knows by this point, the man from Salzburg’s contract ends in July, and it remains to be seen if he will stick around.

Fielding the likes of Nketiah, Uche – who needs to start ten games to stay – Canvot and others where possible is important for the future of the club, a future we all want Glasner to be part of.

However, if he continues to overlook these young talents in favour of more experienced players in every single game, it would strongly suggest he just wants to go out on a high at the end of this campaign.
