Former jockey Davy Russell will be put to the task by the 2 Johnnies as he appears on their Late Night Lock In show.

Russell is one of the greatest jockeys to ever grace the saddle, but he might well meet his match when facing the dynamic Tipperary duo.

Russell officially retired in 2023, after being forced out of retirement to cover Jack Kennedy, but remains heavily involved in the sport.

However, with fewer meetings to attend and the grind of it all, he has plenty more time to spend with his wife and children.

Despite his demanding schedule, he has always prioritised maintaining a balance between his professional commitments and family life, particularly with his wife Edelle, who is a dedicated chemistry and maths teacher.

The couple shares four children together, Lily, Finn, Liam, and Tess. Davy also has another daughter, Jaimee, from a previous relationship.

Their bustling household is nestled in a farmhouse in Youghal, Co Cork.

Reflecting on his busy schedule, Davy told RSVP Live: “We’re kind of used to it because my whole career was divided into days away and days at home and hours away and hours at home.”

While the demands of his career may require frequent travel and time away from home, Davy embraces the opportunity to stay on the move: “I suppose if you were stuck in the yard all day, it can get a bit monotonous, so getting in the car and driving up the road is a help to kind of keep the excitement going about the whole thing.”

Russell was champion jockey three times, in 2012, 2013 and 2018. He twice won the Grand National aboard Tiger Roll in 2018 and 2019 and had 22 Cheltenham Festival winners in his glistening racing career, including the Gold Cup in 2014.
