All Creatures Great and Small fans were left doing a ‘double take’ on Thursday’s episode as they instantly recognised a new character.
During the latest episode, it followed Harry Coker, who was the owner of a dog track who needed an attending vet for his business.
Worried about the practice finances, James Herriot decided to take on the role and headed to Hensfield Racetrack in a bid to make extra money.
However, James was soon left concerned as he checked over the whippets as he suspected one dog was being neglected all in a bid to make money with its health at risk.

After being swarmed by angry racegoers for saving the dog, James had to make a hasty and sneaky exit from the racetrack with help from a drunk Siegfried Farnon as they kidnapped the whippet, leading it to safety.
However, viewers were left distracted during the scenes as they instantly recognised Harry Coker as he was played by actor Chris Gascoyne.
Chris, 57, who is best known for playing Peter Barlow in Coronation Street, looked unrecognisable as he donned a moustache, hat and three-piece suit.
Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Peter Barlow in all creatures! I had to do a double take then!” while another wrote: “Peter Barlow !!!! #acgas!”.

Elsewhere, a different fan put: “Peter Barlow is in a episode of new series” while another added: “Peter from Corrie in it.”
It comes as Chris left Coronation Street back in 2023 after first appearing on the cobbles in 2000 as Peter Barlow.
Corrie fans were left inconsolable on Boxing Day in 2023 as Peter said his final goodbye to the street after 23 years, including an emotional farewell with now ex-wife Carla Connor, played by Alison King.
Since leaving the hit ITV soap, Chris has appeared in the Channel 5 drama The Feud as Lee while he has now also joined All Creatures Great and Small as Harry Coker for Thursday’s episode.

He isn’t the first Corrie star to appear in this series of All Creatures Great and Small as Lucy-Jo Hudson also landed a role in the show as Susan.
The actress, 42, is best known for playing Katy Harris on the cobbles from 2002 to 2005. She has also appeared in Hollyoaks and Wild at Heart.
All Creatures Great and Small continues on Thursdays at 9pm on Channel 5.
