Chargers Reportedly ‘Desperate’ for RB Trade at Deadline After Najee, Hampton Injuries

The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly on the lookout for running back help prior to the 2025 trade deadline after dealing with injuries to several key players at the position this season.

According to Fox Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano, the Chargers are “desperate” for an upgrade at running back before the deadline.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo previously reported that Los Angeles was “canvassing the league for either a depth piece or a starter” on the running back market.

Free-agent addition Najee Harris opened the year in the Chargers’ backfield, but suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in Week 3.

2025 first-round pick Omarion Hampton is also currently on injured reserve due to an ankle injury and hasn’t played since Week 5.

Kimani Vidal has handled starting running back duties in the absence of Hampton, with varying results. Vidal rushed for 124 yards on 18 attempts during the Chargers’ Week 6 win over the Miami Dolphins, but picked up a mere 20 yards on nine carries in their lopsided defeat at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Los Angeles opened the season with a 3-0 record before suffering losses in three of its past four games.

The 2025 trade deadline is on Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. ET.
