The Mexico women’s national team will face New Zealand on Thursday in the first of two friendlies between the teams.

The match will be the first of three games in North America for the Football Ferns, who will face Mexico again on Sunday in Ciudad Juárez before traveling to Kansas City to face the United States on Wednesday.

New Zealand is preparing for World Cup qualification next year as it looks to reach the tournament for the sixth consecutive time.

Mexico is building toward qualification for the 2027 World Cup, which it will begin on Nov. 29 against St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Mexico coach Pablo López has called in a side almost entirely comprised of players from Liga MX Femenil, with Reyna Reyes of the Portland Thorns, Rebeca Bernal of the Washington Spirit and Jacqueline Ovalle of the Orlando Pride the three exceptions.
