Denver’s basketball team lost on the away court in San Francisco after overtime to Golden State 131:137, in their first game of the new American Professional Basketball League (NBA) season.
Denver’s most efficient player was Aaron Gordon with 50 points and eight rebounds. Jamal Murray added 25 points and 10 assists, while Serbian center Nikola Jokić recorded 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, shooting 8/23 from the field (2/13 from three-point range).
Golden State’s most efficient player was Steph Curry with 42 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals. Jimmy Butler added 21 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals, Jonathan Cummings scored 14 points, while Al Horford and Draymond Green each scored 13 points, who also had eight rebounds and eight assists. The Warriors started the season 2-0 with this victory, after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in their first game.
Oklahoma defeated Indiana 141:135 on the road after two overtimes.
Oklahoma City’s Shay Gilges-Alexander led the team in a game against its rival in last season’s NBA playoff finals with 55 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Ajayi Mitchell added 26 points, Aaron Wiggins had 23 points and nine rebounds, while Chet Holmgren had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Isaiah Hartenstein finished with five points and 14 rebounds.
Indiana’s most efficient player was Benedict Maturin with 36 points and 11 rebounds. Pascal Siakam added 32 points and 15 rebounds, Obi Taupin scored 20 points, while Ben Shepard had 15 points and eight rebounds. For the Pacers, Jeres Walker also scored in double figures with 13 points.
Oklahoma, the current NBA champion, started the season with a 2/0 score, having defeated Houston in their first match after two overtimes, while for Indiana this was the first game of the season.
