Eagles’ A.J. Brown 1 of 4 starters out of practice. Nick Sirianni weighs in on his game status

UPDATE: Star receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) was listed as out for Sunday’s game against the Giants on the Eagles’ final injury report of the week despite earlier comments from coach Nick Sirianni that he might be able to play without practicing. Center Cam Jurgens (knee), cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (concussion), edge rusher Azeez Ojulari (hamstring) and cornerback Jakorian Bennett were all listed as out. Also, the recently unretired Brandon Graham will not be activated for the game. Wide receiver Darius Cooper (shoulder) is listed as questionable.

For the Giants, top edge rusher Brian Burns (hip) returned to practice in a limited capacity after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday. He is listed as questionable, but is expected to play. Starting cornerback Paulson Adebo and rotational edge rusher Chauncey Golston were listed as out. Starting safety Jevon Holland is doubtful.

PHILADELPHIA — A.J. Brown remained out of practice for a third straight day Friday as the Eagles prepared for their game with the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.

Does that mean the star receiver will not play Sunday?

Probably is the answer, but not definitely according to Eagles coach Nick Sirianni.

“Everybody has different scenarios,” with playing after not practicing, the coach said. “A lot of our guys just because they are locked into the details and the game plan and the way they go about walk throughs and meetings, I definitely think that he’s a guy who could.”

Brown was out at practice Friday, but he stood on the sidelines in sweatpants during the team stretch. He worked with a trainer on the side Thursday and observed practice Wednesday.

Sirianni also was asked if everything was good with Brown as far as his team interactions after the star receiver posted another cryptic message on social media following the team’s victory over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday.

“I’m always in constant communication with all our guys and A.J. is no different,” the coach said. “Yeah, business as usual.”

In addition to Brown, center Cam Jurgens (knee), cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (concussion) and edge rusher Azeez Ojulari (hamstring) remained out of practice Friday and all are expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Giants.

Brett Toth will make his first career start at center in place of Jurgens and Kelee Ringo will get the start at cornerback in place of Jackson.

Bennett returned to practice this week after being placed injured reserve ahead of the Eagles’ Week 4 game against Tampa Bay with a pectoral injury, but the team decided he was not ready to return to game actiion.

Ringo has made two starts and played 184 defensive snaps in the Eagles’ seven games this season.
