There’s no standing in the way of true love especially when it comes to an Irish pop singer and a stunning soap star.
When Kian Egan, who is about to embark on a 25th anniversary tour with Westlife, laid eyes on Jodi Albert at a festival in 1999, he had met his future wife.
There was just one tiny problem, while the age gap between them isn’t drastic he was 19 years old and she was just 15. Here is everything we know about their love story.
She was in a pop group when they met

Kian was 19 and the pair met backstage at Party in the Park in 1999, when she was in the band Girl Thing. Kian recalls: ‘I was standing with Simon Cowell and was like: ‘Who’s that?.’ Simon said: ‘No, no, no kiddo!’
He told Fabulous Magazine: ‘He was very protective because Jodi was just 15, but we flirted for the rest of the day.’
‘We didn’t get together for another four years. Jodi was only 15 after all,’ he was quick to add.
Love couldn’t blossom for them immediately

When they finally got together, Jodi was 19 but again there was another hurdle in the way of their romance as she had a boyfriend.
Jodie has always only referred to him as her childhood sweetheart but it’s believed to be former A1 singer Ben Adams. The chemistry between the pair was undeniable and Jodie later confessed that they shared a kiss in-spite of her being in a relationship.
She told The Star: ‘He was my first boyfriend and I was only 17. But it was only a little kiss and it was with my future husband Kian. It was obviously leading to a lifelong thing. Does that let me off?’
They tied the knot in lavish style

Ten years after they first laid eyes on each other, Jodi and Kian walked down the aisle in a lavish ceremony in Barbados which reportedly cost €1million after Kian proposed on Christmas Day the year before.
The island was special for the couple as it was where they first holidayed together. He said: ‘In 2003, I took Jodi to Barbados. We had only been together for eight weeks. As soon as you arrive in Barbados, you know you’re on holiday as everyone’s friendly and laid-back. It’s a bit like Ireland. We enjoyed the place so much we decided to have our wedding there.’

Two years later and the couple welcomed their first child, a son they named Koa. Their second son Zekey arrived in May 2015 and rounding out the family was baby Cobi who was born in 2017.
Back in 2019, the couple celebrated their 10th anniversary in the sweetest way by sharing unseen footage from their wedding on Instagram.
Kian paid tribute to his wife saying: ‘This day ten years ago I married the woman of my dreams. We’ve had the most amazing ten years married and I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.’
‘You are my everything. Thank you for being such a special person.’
They are as loved-up as ever

On Kian’s birthday this year, Jodi waxed lyrical about how she felt so lucky to call him her husband.
She said: ‘Happy birthday to the man of my dreams! My best friend, soul mate, partner in everything in life!! The best dad/surf/music teacher dad there is !!!’

‘We love you so much! Today we celebrate another beautiful year around the sun with you ! So grateful to live in this life with you! My everything happy birthday my love,’ Jodi continued.
Kian clearly loved the post, replying: ‘Ahh thank you my baby. I love you so much and the trip around the sun is only as good as it is because of you. Love you so much and all you do for me and all you have given me. My soul mate, my everything.’
