Wales captain Jac Morgan has reportedly met with Saracens as he considers a move away from the Ospreys.

The openside is out of contract next summer and will undoubtedly be in high demand after his exploits with the British & Irish Lions in Australia this summer. French and English clubs are understood to be interested in Morgan amid the uncertainty in Welsh rugby, with R360 also sniffing around.

Morgan is one of many high-profile players who could leave Welsh rugby next summer, with Ospreys team-mate Dewi Lake also out of contract.

RugbyPass report that Morgan met with the Gallagher Prem club on Wednesday, with Saracens looking for a replacement for Tom Willis ahead of his move to Bordeaux.

Rebel league R360 are interested in the signature of the 25-year-old, but WalesOnline understands some Welsh players are having second thoughts on Mike Tindall’s breakaway league given the numerous hurdles it currently faces to get off the ground.

Morgan had previously told the Welsh Rugby Union that he would leave Wales if the Ospreys did not exist amid the current uncertainty over the number of teams in Wales.

Ospreys supporters were told of their captain’s feelings at a supporters’ consultation event, although it wasn’t clear whether Morgan was aware it would be made public.

Back in August, WalesOnline had reported that Morgan was only likely to stay with the Ospreys in Wales.

The club remain hopeful of keeping him and vice-captain Lake ahead of next season.

“I am confident they will want to stay at Ospreys and more than confident we want them here,” said Ospreys head coach, Mark Jones.

“The noises we have from myself and the board is we want them to be part of our squad, but ultimately they are individuals and will make their own decisions.

“We are doing our very best to keep them here. The discussions we are having in the background at the moment are positive, but we understand individuals will make their own choices.”
