Dougie Hamilton Predicted To Land With Detroit Red Wings

One of the more interesting situations around the entire NHL comes from the New Jersey Devils and the future of star defenseman Dougie Hamilton with the squad. Hamilton has been in trade rumors all offseason, but so far, the Devils have resisted moving him.

The veteran has three more seasons left on his current contract, and he is scheduled to make $9 million in each season. New Jersey has reportedly wanted to shed some salary on the books, and this could see Hamilton be moved to make that happen.

Hamilton remains a very effective player out on the ice, and any team that would land him could be getting a steal. Last season with the Devils, Hamilton put up nine goals and had 31 assists over 64 games played in the regular season.

While the Devils try to figure out how to proceed with the situation around Hamilton, it certainly feels like a trade could be happening at some point. Even NHL insider Pierre LeBrun thinks that the star could become more available down the line, and he reported on this in his latest article.

“There are certainly other NHL front offices keeping a close eye on that situation in the event Hamilton becomes available at some point. He’s got a 10-team no-trade list,” The Athletic insider wrote.

It remains to be seen if Hamilton will get traded this season, but it may serve the Devils well to get off his large contract. The team has some tough decisions to make, and the front office will be put to the test later this year on this situation.

This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Dougie Hamilton Traded to Detroit Red Wings

One team that makes a lot of sense as a potential trade partner for the Devils is the Detroit Red Wings. As the Devils look around the league, the Red Wings could be a solid option because this team needs more of a push.

Detroit hasn’t made the playoffs in a long time, and adding someone like Hamilton to the mix could push them over the edge. This Red Wings franchise was once a proud team, but they have fallen on some dark times lately.

This team has a fairly strong core in place, and Hamilton could make them even more formidable as they try to break the long playoff drought. Due to his ability to both score the puck and playmake to others, Gamilton could help this offense become more dynamic as the year goes on.

The Red Wings have the talent to get to the playoffs, and Hamilton could create a lot of problems for opposing defenses. Hamilton has been one of the better defenders over the years, and if he is made available, Detroit should try to land him.

If anything, the Red Wings would be getting a star defenseman for the next few years, and this could excite the fanbase heavily. The Red Wings have to do something to boost the roster; otherwise, big changes could be coming to the franchise at some point.
