In a dramatic moment during the India vs Australia ODI in Sydney, Shreyas Iyer pulled off a stunning catch but sustained an injury in the process. Alex Carey sliced a short delivery from Harshit Rana, sending the ball seemingly between third man and backward point. Iyer, sprinting back from backward point, executed a superb dive to take the catch, dismissing Carey for 24 off 37 balls.
Unfortunately, Iyer fell awkwardly, injuring his left hip, and had to walk off the field in visible pain as the physio rushed to attend him.
The wicket lifted India’s spirits as Australia were reduced to 183-4 in 33.4 overs. Earlier, Matt Renshaw brought up his maiden ODI half-century off 48 balls, dispatching a leg-side delivery past KL Rahul’s dive towards fine leg. Despite the setback to Iyer, India remain firmly in the contest, making regular inroads into the Aussie batting lineup. (With inputs from Agencies)
