Tourists cruising

After 24 overs, India are 1-141, with Rohit on 62, and Kohli on 38.

Kohli survives DRS appeal for lbw

Nathan Ellis has not had a good night, but the Australian quick almost sent a shocked Virat Kohli on his way back to the dressingroom. Kohli mistimed a pull shot to a ball which skidded through, kept lower than expected and hit him flush on the pad. The on-field decision was not out, but the Australians went to the DRS. This showed the ball clipping less than half of the bails, meaning it remained not out. Had more of the bails been in line to be hit, Kohli would have been out.

Sharma posts his 60th … ODI half century

Rohit Sharma was a batting mess last summer in India’s Test tour here, but his form this week, including tonight, in the white-ball format has been excellent. He’s just acknowledged another half-century in his decorated white-ball career. He averages about 70 at the SCG in white-ball cricket, and it’s showing tonight.

India are 1-124 in the 22nd over, chasing 237 for victory.

Marsh turns to striker Starc

Skipper Mitch Marsh has turned to spearhead Mitchell Starc to make a breakthrough here. Rohit and Kohli are in total control, the tourists 1-104 in the 17th over.

On Kohli’s first run …

By Tom Decent

That roar for Virat Kohli’s first run was something else. Pretty special. So loud. That bomb over cover was also outstanding from Rohit.

Crowd at fever pitch as Kohli takes aim; Waugh-esque atmosphere

Veteran commentator Kerry O’Keeffe said on Fox Cricket he had never witnessed such passion for a visiting player as what was on show at the SCG tonight. It seems everyone wants Kohli to ton up. Shades of Steve Waugh at the SCG? We’ll see.

Replay: Here’s how Hazlewood made the breakthrough

Just when we thought … Hazlewood strikes; Virat heads to the crease

Josh Hazlewood looked the most likely to strike early, but it wasn’t until his second spell when he induced Gill into a faint edge behind. This brings out Virat Kohli for the last time in Australia. India are 1-69, chasing 237. Kohli, remember, has had successive ducks, but is off the mark with a clip through mid-wicket for a single.

Australia turn to spin, but the pain continues

Mitch Marsh has turned to the left-arm finger spin of Cooper Connolly in a bid to break this opening partnership. But Connolly concedes 10 off his first over, including a swept six by Gill. Wow. The tourists are 0-69 after 10 overs, and coasting to victory.
