Abducted 5-month-old New Orleans baby found safe, Louisiana State Police says

A 5-month-old baby boy was abducted by his non-custodial father in New Orleans on Wednesday night was found safe hours later, according to the Louisiana State Police.

The abduction prompted an AMBER Alert across Louisiana around 11:30 p.m.

Braydon Nix is accused of entering a home in the 3700 block of Washington Avenue, assaulting the baby’s mother and then taking 5-month-old around 6:30 p.m., police say. He was last seen walking west on South Rocheblave Street.

New Orleans Police say Nix, who is still at large, is wanted on one count of simple kidnapping in the case. He is also actively wanted on one count of simple robbery and one count of domestic abuse battery of a pregnant person in a separate case.

There is an active protective order in place against Nix that bans him from coming in contact with the baby or his mother, New Orleans police said.

Nix is approximately 6’3″ and weighs about 200 pounds. He was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, dark green long pants, white shoes and a black skull cap.

He was believed to be traveling on foot.
