Kathryn Bigelow’s Oscar-Winning War Epic With Chris Pratt Returns to Streaming Charts

Kathryn Bigelow’s new movie is now streaming on Netflix around the world, but long before she ever had the idea to direct A House of Dynamite, she helmed another legendary political thriller that’s returned to streaming charts. In 2012, Bigelow directed Zero Dark Thirty, the docudrama chronicling the decade-long hunt for Osama bin Laden, and the 2011 attack from Navy S.E.A.L.s that led to his death. The film stars Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Kyle Chandler, Joel Edgerton, and Chris Pratt. Zero Dark Thirty has returned to the global streaming top 10 in several countries more than 10 years after it first hit theaters.

In America, Zero Dark Thirty is streaming for free on Pluto TV, and it’s also available on Paramount+ for all premium subscribers. In addition to receiving an Oscar for Best Sound Editing and earning nominations in four more categories, Zero Dark Thirty was beloved by critics and audiences. This led to it holding scores of 91% from the former and 80% from the latter on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. It also found success at the box office, grossing $132 million globally against a relatively modest $40 million budget.

It’s hard not to partially credit the streaming resurgence of Zero Dark Thirty to the arrival of Bigelow’s new movie on Netflix. Now that A House of Dynamite is streaming around the world, fans who enjoyed the movie are certainly going to be curious about some of Bigelow’s other work. The same happened a few weeks ago with K-19: The Widowmaker. The Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson-starring espionage thriller stormed streaming charts in anticipation of A House of Dynamite.

What Is ‘A House of Dynamite’ About?

A House of Dynamite follows several perspectives as the U.S. Government and Military try to figure out who launched a single, unattributed missile at the United States that’s poised to land in Chicago, killing millions. The film features major stars such as Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson, alongside other notable names including Jared Harris, Anthony Ramos, Tracy Letts, Moses Ingram, and Gabriel Basso. A House of Dynamite currently sits at an 80% score from critics and a 76% score from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
