Is Tyquan Thornton playing tonight? Why Chiefs WR is off to quiet start in Week 8

When the Kansas City Chiefs were dealing with a suspension and injuries at the wide receiver position early in the season, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton stepped up.
In fact, he was the team’s No. 1 option for a handful of games, but he has not been anywhere near as productive the past two weeks. Thornton didn’t have a single reception in Week 6 and then had just one for 39 yards in Week 7.
In Week 8 against the Washington Commanders, Thornton is off to another quiet start. Here’s a closer look at what’s going on.
Is Tyquan Thornton playing tonight?
UPDATE: Thornton still has a zero in the box score late in the fourth quarter. Just a brutal evening for the veteran wideout.
UPDATE: The Chiefs have come out firing on their first two drives of the second half, scoring on both. However, Thornton still isn’t anywhere to be found.
UPDATE: The first half is in the books and still not a single target for Thornton. We wouldn’t expect much to change in the second half. Kansas City’s offense is surprisingly struggling on Monday night, so that’s an issue for him, also.
UPDATE: Three drives and still no target for Thornton. It’s not looking good for him tonight.
Yes, Thornton is active but just hasn’t gotten involved yet.
The return of Rashee Rice has been a negative for Thornton, as he now has yet another player to compete with for snaps and targets.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much reason for optimism with Thornton after the first two drives of the evening.
