TEMPE — Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt exited his first drive against Houston on Saturday after taking a hard fall at the end of a run, but he was back in before the first quarter ended.

After staying down on the field, Leavitt went straight for the medical tent on the ASU sideline and later the locker room. He was trying to pick up a third-and-16 but was two yards short.
Jeff Sims replaced Leavitt, converting the fourth down on a QB keeper and eventually setting up an ASU field goal attempt that was missed.
Leavitt returned for the ASU’s second drive.
The Sun Devils were playing without star receiver Jordyn Tyson against a one-loss Houston team.
Leavitt missed the game at Utah due to a foot injury, and he returned the following week.
