Dustin Dopirak, IndyStar: Pacers 110-103
“The Pacers’ season opener gave a good preview for what life might be like in their season without Tyrese Haliburton and with other injuries piling up. They were already without T.J. McConnell with a hamstring strain, they lost Andrew Nembhard with a shoulder injury during the game. They found themselves improvising a lot of their action on the fly. And they almost managed to win in double overtime.
“They’ll be playing Game 2 of 82 without Nembhard, already ruled out with a shoulder strain, which means they’ll be leaning on Ben Sheppard, Taelon Peter and RayJ Dennis to handle the point. As they did in Game 1, they’ll be facing another injury-riddled opponent. The Pacers found out in Game 1 that they can put a lot of weight on Pascal Siakam and Bennedict Mathurin. Those two have the firepower to drag the Pacers to a win and with a tough stretch of games coming, this seems like a good time to get one.”
