More from Wardley after his victory: “Not to take anything away from Joe but I wasn’t hurt, I was jsut sloppy. I got caught in silly positions but I was never hurt. I am not the most clean, but I get the job done.
“I thought the referee should have stopped it five or six pucnhes before, but I’m not here to cry about it. I only keep going. If the ball hasn’t been rang, I’m still throwing punches.”
On the fans: “This is boxing not football, but they are my 12th man on the pitch. They are the extra fire to get Joe out of there. As much as I commend me and my team, it’s the fans who travel up and down the country and across the world that shout my name. Thank you everyone, I couldn’t have done this without you.”
