Opinion | Are democratic socialists really Democrats?
Joshua Muravchik and Ronald Radosh’s Oct. 9 op-ed, “Do the Democratic Socialists of America really believe in democracy?,” led me to question why Zohran Mamdani was on the New York Democratic Party’s mayoral primary ballot in the first place. I know Democrats pride themselves on having a big tent, but shouldn’t candidates be required to be solely members of the party to participate in its primary? If you are a democratic socialist, that’s fine, but embrace it. Muravchik and Radosh made it quite clear that there are major differences between the DSA and the Democratic Party. I think they should remain separate.
